Announce a series of educational activities in preparation for the 2024 Hong Kong Beach Sprint Championships on 14th -15th December 2024 at Mui Wo. In conjunction with World Rowing

We are excited to announce a series of educational activities in preparation for the 2024 Hong Kong Beach Sprint Championships on 14th -15th December 2024 at Mui Wo. In conjunction with World Rowing, HKCRA is offering the following opportunities:

1. Zoom Seminar
Date : 17thJuly, 2024, Wednesday
Time : 7:30 PM – 9:00 PM
Presenter : Mr. Chris Perry, World Rowing Development Lead Expert
Language: English

**This online seminar will provide an introduction to the Beach Sprint discipline and an overview of related World
Rowing development, coach education, and National Technical Official (NTO) Education. Enrolment is open to all
HKCRA members.

2. Practical Weekend Workshop
Date : 5th – 6th October, 2024, Saturday & Sunday
Location : Mui Wo and Wu Kai Sha
This face-to-face Workshop will cover the following topics:

  • Introduction to Beach Sprint Competition and Training
  • Setting up a beach sprint course and organising races
  • Safe management of water training sessions  Updated 2024 Rules of Racing for Beach Sprint
  • Launching, landing, capsize, and rescue drills
  • Coastal race techniques

**Participants should be in good health, capable of swimming 50m in light clothing and floating without assistance
for three minutes.

3. World Rowing Certification Opportunities
Following the above seminars, a limited number of spots are available for the World Rowing Coastal Race Module
and/or Level 1 Coastal Coaches Course. Prerequisites include participation in the preceding Zoom and Practical
Weekend Workshop, as well as completion of self-learning and certification requirements that will be outlined in
the Zoom Seminar.

If demand exceeds capacity, priority will be given based on relevant experience, current rowing activity, club distribution, and gender balance. We encourage all
HKCRA members to take advantage of these valuable learning opportunities as we prepare for the exciting
inclusion of Beach Sprint events at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

The Annual Coaches Conference cum Annual Coaches Awards Presentation Ceremony 2023-2024

The Annual Coaches Conference cum Annual Coaches Awards Presentation Ceremony 2023-2024 will be held on 31 March, 2024 (Sunday). The Annual Coaches Conference is part of the coaching education programme and therefore all the coaches are requested to attend.

The ‘Annual Coaches Awards’ will be held on 31 March 2024.This Annual Awards aims to recognize those excellent coaches who have contributed their professional attitude and efforts to HKCRA, clubs and club members.

2023-24 Level One Coaching Course 2024 (L1-2023-12)Part B,C

The Level One Coaching Course is now open for application, the course will be held on January 2024 to March 2024.

2023-24 Coaching Workshop(II)

To enhance the professional qualifications of rowing coaches and strengthen coaches’ communication, the Hong Kong, China Rowing Association will organize coaching workshops to share experiences on rowing, so that coaches/athletes can understand how to adjust the boat in different situations. and equipment.

Foundation Para Sports Coaching Course [3]

Hong Kong Paralympic Committee will organise Foundation Para Sports Coaching Course for basic knowledge and training principles of Para sports.

 

The Coaching course is opened for enrolment now. For people who would like to pursue the Para sports coaching professional or are interested to join Para sports, please download “General Information” and submit the online application form on or before 26 January 2023.

Introductory Sports Coaching Course is Now Open for Enrollment (Course code: Class 34(E)

Hong Kong Coaching Committee will launch Introductory Sports Coaching Courses in March 2023. This course offers those who are interested in sports coaching the concepts of sports training and sports science. Along with the sport specific coaching programme provided by National Sports Association (NSA), it equips participants to become respective sports coaches. Along with the sports specific coaching programme provided by National Sports Association (NSA).

 

This course (Course code: Class 34(E) will be conducted in English and organized on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Please recommend athletes and coaches for enrollment to this course. For details, please refer to the Course Details and Application Form.

 

In order to incentivize coaches to retain and upgrade their knowledge and skills in coaching during the pandemic situation, Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau has allocated funding to support coaches to pursue coach education programmes.  Full waiver of course fees will be provided to participants by way of reimbursement upon satisfactory completing of the study requirements for Class 34(E).

Level One Coaching Course 2022 (L1-2022-11)

The Level One Coaching Course is now open for application, the course will be held on Nov 2022 to Feb 2023.
The Deadline is on 21 Nov 2022(Mon), please submit the application form with  course fee on or before 21 Nov 2022.

“Jockey Club Foundation Certificate in Sports Coaching Theory” Course is Now Open for Enrollment

The latest edition of the Jockey Club Foundation Certificate in Sports Coaching Theory will commence on Tuesday, 14 June 2022. The course covers the basic theoretical knowledge of sports coaching, coaching management and sports science, coupled with a practicum to equip students with the practical needs of sports coaching. The six-month programme consists of ten modules and one practicum (coaching assistant), including 65 hours of face-to-face classroom teaching, 60 hours of self-study, 30 hours of practicum and 2 hours of introduction to practicum, for a total of 157 hours. The course is recognised under the Qualifications Framework as QF Level 2.

To encourage coaches to continue their studies during the novel coronavirus epidemic, the Home Affairs Bureau of the HKSAR Government will provide full fee subsidy to participants of this year’s Jockey Club Advanced Sports Coaching Theory Certificate programme, who will be issued with the relevant certificate and receive a full refund of the course fees upon graduation.

The course will commence in June 2022 and will be held on Tuesdays and Fridays from 7pm to 10pm at the Hong Kong Sports Institute or online. A copy of the QF brochure and the course prospectus are attached for reference and can be found on the HKSC website at http://www.hkcoaching.com.

“2020 and 2021 Jockey Club Hong Kong Coaching Awards” opened for nomination from 1st December 2021

The 2020 and 2021 Jockey Club Hong Kong Coaching Awards, funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust and organised by the Hong Kong Coaching Committee, is the only territory-wide recognition scheme that are dedicated to recognise coaches’/teachers’ contribution to sport in Hong Kong.  Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, 2020 and 2021 Jockey Club Hong Kong Coaching Awards will be combined into one.

There are seven awards categories:

· Coach of the Year Awards
· Distinguished Services Award for Coaching
· Coach Education Award
· Best Team Sport Coach Award
· Coaching Excellence Awards
· Community Coach Recognition Awards
· School Coach Recognition Awards
