Message of The Chairman

Welcome to the world of rowing in Hong Kong!

The Hong Kong, China Rowing Association (HKCRA) is one of the younger governing bodies of sport in Hong Kong, having been formed in 1978, but rowing is one of Hong Kong’s oldest organized sports. It is one of the very few governing bodies that provide and own their own facilities.

The HKCRA welcomes all those interested to take up a challenging water sport, develop and maintain a healthy lifestyle and share their sport experience with friendly, committed and competitive people. Rowing is driven by volunteers at all levels – the Board of Directors, our Committees and Commissions and our rowing clubs. Rowing offers many opportunities for personal development – whether through exciting competition on the water (or on an indoor rowing machine), through coaching or umpire qualifications, or through the many volunteer organisational or event-based management and helper roles which are available to all.

Many regattas in our annual competition programme are also open to crews from outside Hong Kong, and our clubs maintain close links with their counterparts in other regions throughout Asia. This facilitates a lively programme of international racing for Hong Kong crews wishing to expand their experience and their horizons through rowing.

A clear pathway is open to those with ambitions to represent Hong Kong at elite international level – Asian Rowing Championships and World Championships at junior and senior levels, Asian Games and Asian Para Games, and Olympic and Paralympic Games.

If you would like to be a part of rowing in Hong Kong, follow the links in this website or contact us directly. And bring your friends. Discover a great lifetime sport!
