Latest update on JCSMRC’s bridges and pontoon

Dear all,

We would like to provide you with the latest update regarding the bridges and pontoon at JCSMRC.

Following today’s inspection, our contractor has confirmed the damages to both bridges, which will require custom-made parts for replacement and repair. Bridge 1, located closer to the dragon boat pontoon, has sustained more damage than expected, particularly with the fibreglass float and the connecting wires between the riverbed and the pontoon being out of position. Bridge 2 will require all the bolts connecting the sea wall and pontoon replaced.

Our priority is to repair Bridge 2 first so that we can resume water training at JCSMRC as soon as possible. However, due to the extent of the damages, our target for completion has been deferred to no later than next Thursday/Friday.

During this period, water training at Shek Mun will continue to be suspended. We have already urged our contractor to take action promptly, but please note that the repair works are also dependent on weather conditions and tides.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your understanding regarding the arrangements.

Thank you for your cooperation.
