Jackie Chan Challenge Cup Hong Kong Universities Rowing Championships 2018 Concluded Successfully Today!

The Jackie Chan Challenge Cup Hong Kong Universities Rowing Championships 2018, which was organized by the Organizing Committee of the Hong Kong Universities Rowing Championships (URC), co-organized by Hong Kong, China Rowing Association (HKCRA) and sponsored by the Jackie Chan Charitable Foundation was concluded successfully on 18-19 August in Sha Tin Shing Mun River Regatta Course. The eight local universities had sent their most competitive crews to take part and to compete for the glories of their respective universities.

In this year, the Overall Champion in Men and Women as well as the Overall Champion went to the Chinese University of Hong Kong again for17 consecutive years.  While the Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) and Polytechnic University of Hong Kong achieved second and third Overall Champion respectively. Another focus was the HKBU student LIN Cheuk Ngai, who just represented Hong Kong to take part in the 2018 World University Championships, won the gold medals in the Men’s Single Sculls and Double Sculls in this Championships. No matter the results, the HKCRA would like to congratulate all the universities crews as they have contributed and dedicated a lot in the past few months and fully reflected the team spirit in the sport of rowing.

This Championships is an annual major event for the rowers from different tertiary institutions of Hong Kong. The representatives of URC are students who come from the eight universities. From planning to organizing the event, all the representatives have fully contributed. It demonstrates the spirit of the new logo of the HKCRA – PASSION TO GO BEYOND. It shows defiant attitude that refutes the right to give anything less than the best of one’s strengths and abilities, a commitment to explore personal and collective potential. Through this Champiomships, the HKCRA wish encourages all the universities in Hong Kong to further expand its own rowing teams and provides a platform for the youngsters to compete and share journey of rising up to every challenge and thereby building lifelong friendships.
