40th Hong Kong Rowing Championships Concluded Successfully
The two-days 40th Hong Kong Rowing Championships concluded successfully. This year, we have more than 25 overseas rowing crews from seven countries/regions to take part including China, Chinese Taipei, Macau, Japan, Singapore and England.
The atmosphere of the Championships is heart-beatable and the Lok Tsui Rowing Club is awarded with the HKCRA 40th Anniversary Memorial Cup. This Cup is presented each year to the local rowing club which wins most of the medals in the Championships. The Hong Kong Rowing Squad Members including CHAN Chi Fung and HUNG Wing Yan, Winnie got the Gold Medal in the Open Men’s Single Sculls and Women’s Single Sculls respectively. While another important events, Open Men’s and Women’s Eight went to National Chi Nan University Rowing Team A from Chinese Taipei and Lok Tsui Rowing Club & the Education University of Hong Kong Mixed Team respectively.
We had also received overwhelming responses this year from Disciplinary Forces and Corporates sectors, forming more than 26 teams to take part, counting with the 16 strong teams from Hong Kong, making altogether with more than 900 rowers and officials to take part in the Championships! With the increasing popularity of the Hong Kong Rowing Championships in other regions, a team from England Westminster School Boat Club also returned to Hong Kong again to compete with all the rowers. Although they just got the Bronze Medal in the Open Men’s Eight event, they are just as a junior level but just miss 0.67 sec to the Silver Medal Team from the National Chi Nan University Rowing Team B from Chinese Taipei.
The Hong Kong, China Rowing Association would like to express our heartfelt for the support from AG Rowing, Excilor, KT TAPE HK, RowSport Asia Ltd, WinTech Racing, Salonpas, Salonsip, Toshiba, the Home Affairs Bureau (Arts & Sport Development Fund), the Leisure & Cultural Services Department, all the volunteers, umpires and officials to make the event a great success.
