Ladder System

  1. HKCRA is pleased to announce the introduction of an exciting Ladder Competition aimed at encouraging regular crew participation in regattas and adding a new dimension to the competitive rowing calendar.
  2. Commencing with the Shing Mun River Regatta I on 26th June 2016, entries in selected events in certain regattas will attract points which will, both on their own and cumulatively, contribute to positions on a ladder board to be displayed at the Sha Tin Rowing Centre.
  3. The following regattas in 2016 will count towards the Ladder Competition:

    1. Shing Mun River Regatta I – 26th June
    2. Shing Mun River Regatta II – 10th July
    3. Shing Mun River Regatta III – 31st July
    4. Shing Mun River Regatta IV – 9th Oct
    5. Hong Kong Rowing Championships – 29th & 30th October
  4. The following selected events at the chosen regattas will count towards the Ladder Competition:

    1. Champion Club – Top 10 ranked Clubs will be displayed
    2. Men Coxed Eight – Top 10 ranked crews will be displayed
    3. Women Four – Top 10 ranked crews will be displayed)
    4. Men Single Scull – Top 20 ranked scullers will be displayed
    5. Women Single Scull – Top 20 ranked scullers will be displayed)
  5. Each crews or scullers will score points for entering and results in any status events, as follows:

    For entering a status event a crew or sculler for will score 1 point.

  6. Points of all crews and scullers must be counted in every Status Regatta. In the Men Eight and Women Four Events, the 1st entry of each crew will be identified as the rootcrews. Crews in any race must be formed from at least half of the rootcrews and their points could be accumulated in the Ladder.

Status System

Junior (men and women)
A rower aged not more than 18 shall be classified as a Junior. A rower ceases to be a Junior on 31st December of the year in which he/she reaches the age of 18. Every Junior rower must be able to prove his/her age by production of an official document.
Seniors (men and women)

Definition of Senior A rower who is no longer a Junior shall be classified as a Senior. The Senior Category shall be further classified into Senior Status Classifications as follows:

Division 1
A Division 1 rower is one who

  1. is not eligible to compete in Division 2 or Division 3 Events, OR
  2. has represented Hong Kong as part of a senior team in any on- water rowing competition, whether as a crew member or as a reserve rower within the past 48 calendar months. A Division 1 rower who has not won a Division 1 Status Event within a period of 18 calendar months will revert to Division 2 Status at the end of that period.
Division 2
A Division 2 rower is one who:

    1. has not had three wins in any combination of Division 1 or Division 2 Status Events since achieving Division 2 Status, AND
    2. is not eligible to compete in Division 3 Status Events.
  1. has been a Division 1 rower and has not won a Division 1 Status Event within a period of 18 calendar months as a Division 1 rower. Upon reverting to Division 2, such a rower will have the same status in Division 2 as a rower promoted from Division 3.
Division 3
A Division 3 rower is one who has not had top 2 positions in any combination of Division 1, Division 2 or Division 3 Status Events in two regattas and is not eligible to compete in Novice Events.
Novice
A Novice rower is one who has not yet won any Status Event. A rower shall no longer be a Novice after the expiry of 12 calendar months from the date of his first competition. A rower who is no longer a Novice under this Rule shall become Division 3 from the same date.
Separate Status for Rowing and Sculling
Rowers shall hold a separate status for rowing and sculling in accordance with Rule 14 based upon their separate results in rowing and sculling Status Events.
